The next Early Onset Dementia Support Group meeting will take place on 3 March 2016 from 7.30-9.30pm in the Boardrooms on the 2nd Floor of the Hunter Wing, St George’s Hospital.

Zoe Harris, who cared for her husband who had dementia, will be our guest speaker. She will share some of her experiences and insights, with particular focus on relationships between families and care providers. Zoe will share more about the ‘Care Charts’ she created to communicate with care staff about her husband’s needs, while he was living in a care home.

The meeting will start with Circle Dance with creative practitioner, Olivia McLennan. Circle Dance has its origins in folk dance and is particularly suitable for people with dementia as it involves connection and rhythm and has been adapted for standing and seated activity.

There will also be an opportunity to talk to Zoe and hear about her experiences in a separate room. Others who would prefer to take part in further Circle Dance and some musical activity can remain in the main room and be supported to participate by our facilitators.

Dr Samantha Lund from Royal Trinity Hospice will also be attending the meeting and will be available to talk to anyone who would like to ask questions or follow up the discussions we held at the last meeting.
